Do read this.

I should just make it clear that while the conceptual boundaries of projection and poetry are very open, I'm going to be weirdly profoundly narrowing...  ( this is what happens when a 'non-viable' arts forum like this gets bigger you see!  and I'm going to say that preference will be given to pieces that do have a word-based connection with poetry.
Now this can be pretty extended, for example the words could be in the titling, or they could be deconstructed or removed from themselves in a number of ways.  However if your proposal has no words incorporated at all, preference may be given to another piece.

I do believe in poetry in motion and poetry in dance and in imagery.  This forum though: the Projector Project, is about amalgamating poetry with projected image or film.

If you want to know whether your idea is viable for this night just write to me I'll answer your message.  It's a show that supports innovation.

Also I should point out that we don't know how we'll be able to support everyone's technical requirements yet.  So if you have special technical requirements it wuld be good if you coulf indicate what these are in your submission and also how you may be able to meet some or all of them yourself.

Submissions / Proposals

This will be our third Projector, and there will be a selection process as it is expected that it will be a bigger and better event than ever.

We plan to host it in a years time : 2011 Spring
So about a year from now, like - October next year.

(1)    If you have poetry-film that needs to be seen, or poetry performance with a visual aspect, or an idea for the show that involves poetry and / or projection, then send it to me at:
genintransit@yahoo.co.nz    (write to me here and I will provide a mailing address for cd's.)
Include   a bit about yourself.
If your intention is to present live performance on the night, you'll also need to include a description of what it is you'd like to do.  You can use images or links to websites and things like that.

(2)    The selection process
will be based on:

1. Beauty, Interest & / or  Amazingness

2. Innovation and / or success of amalgamated forms
3. Quality of production and / or  expected performance
We are going to find some lovely locals to panel this discussion process.  We're still a pretty small outfit, and we hope to support anyone locally or internationally who makes poetry film or image with poetry performance.

(3)    Formatting requirements, to be honest have been pretty loose, and still can be.
We understand that the nature of poetry film is a bit loose and so are we, however the ideal format would be an mpeg file.
Put it on a cd and email me for a mailing address.

(4)    Time limits.  Well, the time limit is 30 minutes.
Keep in mind that there will be screenings as well as installation presentations, so films for the main screenings will often be shorter than this so that we can be inclusive.
A recommended time frame is 5-12 minutes.
Exceptional films that are longer (up to 30min) will be included as much as technology and time allows.

(5)    We're not interested in racist or sexist attitudes.  Gratuitously violent or sexual content is not acceptable here. Political or socio-political expression of opinion is fine but don't be horrible please. We reserve the right to refuse entry to the event of any individual or group. We reserve the right to change our mind about hosting a film or performer at this event although we hope we don't have to.  This event will be wheel-chair accessible.  We cannot return the material you send to us.  Your email address will go on our list for updates about the event, and any special deals or functions.  This can be removed at your request.  A refund for pre-paid tickets will only happen if the event is cancelled. We hold no responsibility for the cost of postage or delivery of your work, or for work that is lost or damaged in transit.  It's your responsibility to deliver submissions to us.  We hold no responsibility for any cost incurred by breach of standards of any other event due to the acceptance and screening of work provided for The Projector Project 2011, produced by  Fat Blossom Productions by any individual or group.  We reserve the right to take photos and video footage at the event that may be used only in conjunction with publications and publicity for The Projector Project in the future.

Hi everyone, Welcome to the Projector Project Blog.

Calls are out for the 2011 Projector Project!

The theme is        'Airtime'

. . .   .   .     .     .       but this doesn't apply to the films or presentations.  (Although it can if you want).  Rather it applies as a general umbrella concept starter for the style of the night!

So about a year from now, we'll be transforming a venue (yet to be announced) into an amazing one-off four-hour event of poetry-film and spoken word,  with projection, -theatricality / dance / experimentalism happy mingling / as well as good old-fashioned poems!

For The Projector Project 2011 we'll be angling for a bigger than before screen event.
Once again the occasion is planned to be an immersive experience, and will be about 4 hours long.

There will be a sit down screenings area, with interval, and there will be a number of installation presentations as well.  Extra expounding of linguistic expression . . We'll see what we can do.
Proper surprises!   depends on your nervous system.
